Tanzania kuwa miongoni wa wazalishaji wakubwa wa chuma Afrika.
DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania inatarajia kuwa mmoja wa wazalishaji wakubwa wa chuma barani Afrika kwa kuzalisha tani milioni moja kwa mwaka mara uzalishaji wa madini hayo utakapoanza mwaka 2018/19 chini ya kampuni ya Tanzania China Mineral Resources Limited (TCIMRL), ambayo ni kampuni ya ubia kati ya Shirika la Taifa la Maendeleo (NDC) na Shirika la Sichuan Hongda Group (SHG) ya China.
Ripoti ya utafiti wa TCIMRL ambayo ni sehemu ya maandalizi ya kuanzishwa mgodi na kiwanda cha chuma katika eneo la Liganga wilayani Ludewa, iliyofanywa katika eneo la kilomita za mraba 10 pekee inabainisha kuwapo kwa tani milioni 219 za chuma ambazo zitadumu kwa zaidi ya miaka 70 kwa uchimbaji wa juu (open cast mining). Eneo lililobakia lina kilomita za mraba 156 na kukadiriwa kuwa na rasilimali kubwa zaidi.
Tanzania itashika nafasi ya nne ikizifuatia nchi za Afrika Kusini itakayozalisha bidhaa za chuma tani milioni 8.5 kwa mwaka, Misri tani milioni 8.0 na Libya tani milioni 2.0 kwa mwaka. Chuma kinachozalishwa duniani ni takribani tani bilioni 1.55 kwa mwaka, mzalishaji mkubwa ikiwa ni China inayotoa tani milioni 711 kwa mwaka ambayo ni sawa na asilimia 46 ya chuma chote kinachozalishwa duniani. Mbali na chuma, madini mengine yatakayotokana na mgodi huo ni Titanium tani 175,400 kwa mwaka na Vanadium tani 5,000 kwa mwaka.
Mradi huu ni moja ya miradi miwili iliyopo katika mkataba kati ya NDC na SHG uliotiwa saini Septemba 21, 2011 ya uanzishwaji wa mgodi wa makaa ya mawe na ujenzi wa kituo cha kufua umeme wa megawati 600 katika eneo la Mchuchuma pamoja na ujenzi wa msongo wa umeme wa kilovoti 220 kati ya Mchumchuma na Liganga; na uanzishwaji wa mgodi wa chuma na ujenzi wa kiwanda cha kuchenjua chuma na kiwanda cha kuzalisha bidhaa za chuma, pamoja na ujenzi wa barabara kati ya Mchuchuma na Liganga.
Kiasi cha Makaa ya mawe kulingana na utafiti wa TCIMRL katika eneo la kilomita za mraba 30 ni tani milioni 370 ambazo zinaweza kuchimbwa kwa miaka zaidi ya 100. Kkuna eneo la ziada la kilomita za mraba 110 ambalo linakadiriwa kuwa na rasilimali zaidi ya makaa yam awe.
Miradi hii miwili itakayogharimu Dola za Kimarekani bilioni tatu (USD 3.0bil) inatarajiwa kuliingizia taifa mapato ya Dola bilioni 1.7 kwa mwaka itakapoanza uzalishaji kamili mwaka 2018/19, mapato ambayo yatatokana na uuzaji wa umeme wa megawati 600, uuzaji wa makaa ya mawe kwa nishati ya viwandani, chuma, titanium, vanadium na itatoa ajira ya moja kwa moja watanzania 6,000 na 35,000 kwa zisizo za moja kwa moja.
Miradi hii hivi sasa ipo katika awamu ya kwanza ambayo ilikuwa inahusisha utafiti na maandalizi kabla ya Mei mwakani kuingia katika awamu ya ujenzi wa migodi na viwanda katika maeneo ya Mchuchuma na Liganga.
Mradi huu wa ubia na mwekezaji wa kimataifa unakwenda sambamba na mradi mwingine katika eneo hilo la Ludewa uliotiwa saini Septemba 2, 2009 na kampuni ya wazawa ya M.M. Steel Resources Public Limited Company (MMSR PLC). Mradi huu unalenga kuzalisha chuma ghafi kwa kutumia chuma cha Liganga Matitu na makaa ya mawe ya Katewaka. Kampuni ya ubia iliyoanzishwa ni Maganga Matitu Resource Development Limited (MMRDL). Uwekezaji utakuwa ni dola za Kimarekani milioni 150 na unatazamiwa kuingiza mapato ya dola milioni 183.3 kwa mwaka. Chuma ghafi hiki kitatumika kuwa malighafi kwa viwanda vingine vilivyo ndani na nje ya nchi, hivyo kuwezesha uzalishaji wa chuma imara kulikoni hiki cha sasa kitokanacho na scrap ambacho ni hafifu. Lakini pia hujuma kwa miundombinu yetu kwa ajili ya scrap utakoma.

The government of Tanzania has vowed that it will collaborate with all stakeholders involved in addressing the HIV/Aids scourge in both formal and informal workplaces. It has been established.
Speaking to invited dignitaries today during the official launching of the HIV Corridor Economic Empowerment Innovation Fund in Dar es Salaam, the Minister for Labour and Employment, Ms Gaudentia Kabaka (MP) said that all what they need is commitment from all stakeholders by abiding to ethics and professionalism during the course of the project activities.
“I also have been informed that the programme aims at attaining increased availability of social and economic services to vulnerable groups which includes increased access to HIV and Aids prevention and impact mitigation service,” she said.
She said that the government appreciates the work that has been done by the ILO and SIDA for coming up with the programme which is going to be implemented in six countries such as Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
On his part International Labour Organization (ILO), Deputy Director in Tanzania, Hopolang Phororo said that the project seeks to complement conventional methods of HIV prevention. “This is by stimulating economic opportunities through the promotion of decent work for populations located along selected transport corridors,“In order to provide viable empowerment channels to mitigate the impact of the HIV and Aids epidemic for these vulnerable communities,” she said.
She added that, at the same time, the project equips people with relevant information on HIV prevention and facilitates access to treatment, care and support, thereby contributing towards Zero New HIV infections.
HIV Corridor Economic Empowerment Innovation Fund is a project initiated by International Labour Organization (ILO) and Swedish International Development Organization (SIDA) in the fight against the HIV/ Aids disease.
